~~~Taplow. Yes, but who else pays any attention to it except the Crock?
「ええ、でも、クロック以外の先生の、誰がそんな規則、守りますか？」
~~~Frank. Except Mr. Crocker-Harris.
「クロッカー・ハリス先生以外の・・・」
~~~Taplow. Except Mr. Crocker-Harris. Do you, sir?

~~~Frank. Taplow, you leave this room with your life, and that is all. Good-bye.

「何が可笑しいんだ？」
~~~生徒2. The idea of the Crock having a heart at all.
「クロックに心臓があるつてことがさ。」
~~~Taplow. I see what you mean.
「ああ、君の言つてゐることは分る。」
~~~生徒3. I say, do you think he's dying?
「聞くがね、彼、それで死ぬと思ふ？」
~~~生徒2. Heart trouble is nearly always fatal, isn't it?
「心臓の病気つていふのはいつだつて生き死にに関はるつて話だぞ。」
I mean, in plays and films, people are always saying... ''The old ticker's a bit dicky, you know.''

They always die in the end. I say, supposing he dies in the class... right in front of us.

They get a kick out of twisting ears, et cetera. I don't think the Crock gets a kick out of anything.
「あの二人は、耳をひつぱつたり、とにかく痛い目にあはせるけど、クロックはそんなことは決してしない。」
In fact, I don't think he has any feelings at all. He's just dead, that's all.

~~~Wilson. Sir?
「はい。」
~~~Redgrave. You were late for chapel this morning. I have therefore submitted your name as an absentee.
「君は今朝、朝礼に遅れた。だから、君の名前を欠席者名簿に入れておいた。」
~~~Wilson. I wasn't really late, sir. Only a few seconds, sir. I was in the library, and you can't hear the bell.
